Latif Salifu: Chelsea better than Hearts

Exciting youngster, Latif Salifu has explained his decision to choose Berekum Chelsea over Hearts of Oak, revealing to 90 MINUTES that the club participating in the African Champions’ League present him with better prospects than the former Ghana and African champions.

Latif was apparently set to make the switch from Liberty Professionals across town to Hearts with reports indicating the Phobians had agreed to sign him for GH¢45,000 but changed his mind after big-spending Chelsea stepped in with a GH¢60,000 offer. But the player says he chose Berekum over Accra for the good of his career. “Chelsea have good materials, very good players and as a striker, you must have the players behind you who can give good passes so you can do your job. I chose Chelsea because I will have players who can pass the ball to me, they have better players than Hearts,” Latif said.

The player also tells 90 MINUTES he has no fears at all of breaking into a star-studded Chelsea side: “Anytime a player is going to a new club, the ambition is to win and I’m no different. I know Chelsea have a lot of good players but I’m not thinking about sitting on the bench.”

He added: “I’m going to help the club so that we’ll become stronger and I will pray to God that whatever comes our way, we’ll be victorious. Last season when I played in the second round, I scored 8 goals for Liberty so I hope to improve on that and score more for Chelsea.” C
