Kotoko SC presents trophy to Asantehene

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club on Thursday presented the Glo Premier League trophy they won to the Life Patron of the Club, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong, Executive Board Chairman of the Club, led members of the Board, Management, technical team and players to the Palace to present the trophy.

They were accompanied by representatives of the Kotoko Ladies Club, members of the Old Players and the National Circles’ Council.

This comes barely five days after the Porcupine Warriors were officially crowned the 2011/2012 League champions.

Kotoko has won the coveted trophy for a record 21 times.

Dr Sarpong assured the Asantehene that the Club would continue to work hard and with determination to achieve more laurels.

In line with this goal, the Management had put in measures to attract more sponsorship, he said, and mentioned African Origin Travels and Tours and Blue Jeans Energy Company Limited as their latest sponsors

Dr Sarpong said the members of the Club were grateful to the Asantehene for his spiritual and moral support that greatly assisted in the Club’s success story.

The Omanhene of Asante-Mampong, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, on behalf of the Asantehene commended the team for the discipline and teamwork exhibited and urged that such an attitude must be sustained, adding that they had done themselves, the large army of fans and Asanteman, proud.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu urged the team to continue to work hard and repeat their sterling performance in the Premier League onto the African Championship.

The Board and Management should also remain focused on the task of building the team into a fearsome and all-conquering side.

Isaac Amoako, goalkeeper and general captain of the Club, presented the trophy, which was decorated in the red and white colours of the Club to the Asantehene, drawing deafening cheers from the large crowd of supporters that gathered at the Palace.**
