Klah in a Sparkling golf finish at Taysec July Medal

Joseph Klah has finally etched his name into the Taysec Monthly Medal, with a sparkling one over par for first place finish in July at the Achimota Golf Club. After third place finishes in the February and June medals, his July triumphqualifies him for the impending UT Matchplay event.
He played at Achimotaon a daunting handicap one,the status of which he fully recognizes: “I always practice and play for my handicap,” he commented. “I do everything within my ability to play one over par or lower during my practices, and this gives me confidence in competition.”
The young player raced into the lead with amazing drives and powerful chipping abilities. These great tendencies compensated for a relatively weak putting performance, which he admits was mostly not on. “I tried to set my first and approach shots on, so with a little chipping effort, my not-too-good putting didn’t dictate much on the day.”
With fantastic ball striking he settled into a series of pars, with two sloppy bogeys and birdies on par-4 third, par-4 eleventh and par 5 fifteenth.
He beat Y. Assah-Sam and Eddie Dontoninto the Men A Division’ssecond and third placesrespectively, on tied net scores of 73 which separated on countback.
Meanwhile in the Ladies A Division, Beatrice Vetsch-Bempong was forced to skip her usual pre-game practice rounds due to rain.Nevertheless, with intense concentration the May winner won again. A chip into the pin on hole 14 coupled with fleet of birdies and pars raised her to the leaderboard on a net score of 72 off handicap 12. Mary Krongborg followed on a net score of 74 off handicap 17.
Mark Cofie made good in the Men B Division with a fantastic round of golf that produced a thrilling 67 net score off 19. Taysec’s Tony Morgan had an equally glowing finish after returning a net score of 68 off 25, followed by Ghanaian golf’s “Tiger”, Chris Apau-Oppong, with a 69 net score off 19.

Peace Akwei delivered a stylish game which took her to victory in the Ladies B Division with a net score of 75 off handicap 23. Monica Sampaney-Gambrah followed, with a net score of 81 off 25.

Club Captain Rene Gameli-Kwamereminded competitors that July Medal winners also qualify for the UT Matchplaycompetition, and he encouraged winners to show their mettle when participating in the event. He launched the Matchplay on behalf of UT CEO Prince Amoabeng.
