Hasaacas humble Great Olympics on home ground

Accra, Feb. 28, GNA - Visiting Sekondi Hasaacas raised Accra Great Olympics down to grass with a 3-1 comeback victory that left the demanding followers of the 'Wonder Club' incensed in their Glo Premiership meeting at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra on Sunday.

The homers relinquished a 30th minute lead scored by Mawuli Tuglo but went down through erratic goalkeeping by Ben Mensah as they lost the game that they initially had wrapped around their fingers. Hasaacas who needed a win to give their premiership survival a chance, appeared vulnerable from the start and had to rely heavily on amazing goalkeeping by Saani Mohammed to stay in the game.

After several grand saves by Mohammed, Hasaacas turned adventurous when Salui Muntari tore away from the left back and sent a deep cross into Olympics goal area which was well dealt with. However a second later, Hasaacas sent another cross deep into the area and with Mensah appearing to be in control, the goalkeeper surprisingly parried the back into his own net on the stroke of half time to put the game at par.

Back from the recess, Olympics launched a search for another goal but with Tuglo twice turning wasteful and once unlucky when his shot deflected off the woodwork after keeper Mohammed was compromised, the Wonder Club ruined their chances.

Just when it appeared a draw could be a fair result, Joseph Akowuah popped up from no where, made use of an unimaginable poor defending to send Hasaacas ahead with 15 minutes of proceedings left. The celebrations of Hasaacas' had barely died down when Akowuah wrapped up the game with his brace and his side's third to send the supporters of Olympics in tears. 28 Feb. 10
