Hasaacas draw with Olympics

Sekondi Hasaacas lost valuable points at home as they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Sekondi stadium on Sunday.

The home side started on a bright note as usual with incursions to grab early lead and the chief architect was their left full back,Augustine Arhinful.

Olympics were forced to make a substitution when Joshua Oninko suffered an injury for Alfred Arthur to replace him while the heat was about gearing up.

Arhinful scared and troubled former Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingson with his set piece balls such that Kingson called for his substitution before the 20th minute mark.

The first attempt was a 9th minutes bend from 25 meters which landed on the cross bar while Kingson watched.

Arhinful struck the woodwork again after two minutes from another free kick and a rebound header from Kingsley Adjei which went in for a goal was disallowed by assistant referee,Malik Salifu.

Kingson in the 18th minutes signalled his bench and he was brought out for another well known experienced goalie,Osei Boateng. Kingson walked straight to dressing room taking both jeers and cheers alike.

Yet Olympics caused a surprise with a goal in the 23rd minutes through Kwame Boateng as he slot home the ball after a sloppy defending by Hasaacas.

The shock of conceding got the home side searching but substitute goalie for Oly, Boateng was up to task.

The former Kotoko goalie rushed out of his line to grab a through ball from Emmanuel Ankobea to Benjamin Eshun just when the latter nearly connect and a parry to the threatening free kick of Arhinful.

The second half was very clumsy from both teams with foot up and double footed challenges and shirt dragging.

Olympics were holding on to their lead while Hasaacas wanted the equalizer. The tactics of delay with feigning injuries were common from the visitors for sure.

The heat of the game got Hasaacas reduced to ten men when midfielder Theophilus Nyame was sent off for reckless tackle in the 64th minutes.

But with one man down their verve was strong for a goal and a teed up pass from Frederick Quayson to Joseph Mugri was saved by goalie Boateng punching Mugri's finish to corner.

Hasaacas attacking with almost every player left them open at the back but their captain and central defender, Daniel Egyin brilliantly saved his side any further woes with sensational well-thought-out interceptions in two on one and three on two situations.

Egyin single handedly mastered the defense of Hasaacas when Olympics should have done better to kill the game to earn all three points.

Kojo Poku once again replayed an event just like last sunday against BA Utd but this to secure one point for Hasaacas in the 75th minutes.

A long ball from Amos Korankye from his area found Ankobea just in the box whose first touch connection was missing target but Poku stepped ahead to score with an acrobatic kick from that acute angle.

Substitute Kojo Poku with the crucial goal just as he scored the winner last week.
