Handball Gala fixed for March 27.

Accra, March 25, GNA - The Handball Association of Ghana (HAG) will organize this years Gala Competition at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex, Kaneshie from Friday, March 27 to Saturday, March 28,. The Gala, which precedes the National League will have ten clubs participating.

The Clubs are Ghana Prisons, Police Service, Fire Service, Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Asomdwe Club and Great Fingers International. The rest are Hostac Handball Club, Future Stars, Young Hands of Kpando, and new entrants, University of Ghana.

A statement signed by Saka Acquaye, General Secretary of HAG copied to GNA Sports said the ultimate winner as well as other outstanding performers will go home with trophies and cash prizes donated by Jubilee Sports Limited and the Association. Prisons Service will defend the male trophy they won in 2007 whilst the Police Service will defend the Women's trophy they also won in 2007.

In a related development, the National Under-20 team is expected to participate in the Africa Challenge Trophy scheduled for Lome, Togo, from April 13-20 this year. According to the statement, the team is presently in serious preparations towards the event. It would be recalled that the female National team won the African Challenge Trophy in 2007.
