Guinean coach blames inexperience for defeat

Accra, July 13, GNA - Coach Fabert Camara of the Guinea Women soccer team has blamed their 13-0 humiliating defeat to Ghana's Black Queens in their African women Championship qualifier on inexperience.

The coach told the GNA Sports in Conakry that his team lacked the exposure and experience to match the Queens in the game, which saw the Ghanaians having total control and dictating the pace of the match. "Ghana has come a long way and we knew they will be unstoppable. We all know they took their time to rise through the ranks before arriving to this level, and that is so appreciative" he emphasised.

The coach who stayed glued to his seat after the match apparently in disbelief after referee Agatha Athacou from Cote D'Voire brought proceedings to an end, however, anticipated a lesser score line. He told the GNA that even though the team envisaged a defeat, "We thought we could have prevented such a huge margin of defeat and this has really left us very demoralised'.

Coach Camara apparently gave up any hope of survival when quizzed about their chances in the return leg billed for Ghana in two weeks time.

"We are simply expecting nothing favourable, we know only a miracle will save us from another humiliation back in Ghana" he told the GNA Sports.

He, however, said he took consolation in the fact that the Guineans will have another opportunity of learning useful lessons when they honour the return game.

The last time both teams clashed, the Queens emerged victors with an 11-0 win at home before following it up with a 9-0 score line in a similar assignment in 1997.

The Queens last Sunday rewrote history when they defeated their host 13-0 in the game played in Conakry.
