GHPL Week 13: Hearts of Oak maintain top spot; Kotoko are just 2 oints behind

Team Hearts of Oak Team Hearts of Oak

The exciting Ghana Premier entered week 13 this weekend with Hearts Of Oaks still on top of the pack.

At the Nana Agyemang Badu two records were put to test, Hearts Of Oaks’ unbeaten away record and Aduana's recent winning streak.

At the end of the game one run have to end and it was the Ogya boys' five game winning run that ended.

Going into they game the hype centered around League top scorer Yahaya Mohammed and Hearts’ play maker Isaac Mensah but both players failed to light up the game by their lofty standards.

Aduana went into recess with a 1-0 lead courtesy a glancing header by experienced defender Emmanuel Akuoko affectionately called 'Abubulebu' from a tailored measured Godfred Saka freekick.

Typical of them this season Hearts returned for the second half a different team. They took the game to Aduana and their effort paid of in the 66th minute when substitute striker Samuel Yeboah after toying with the home side's defence laid a cut back for Dauda Cosmos to level the scores.

The result ensured that the phobia boys still stay on top of the log two points ahead of their opponent and now their arch rivals Asante Kotoko whose narrow win over Inter Allies moved them to joint second.

Fabulous Asante Kotoko labored to beat a 10 man Inter Allies by a lone goal via a spot kick goal from skipper Amos Frimpong.

Asante lackluster display in attack in their last three games further spells out their dependency on Dauda Mohammed who have been on national duty during these games.

The Porcupine warriors have not scored more than a goal per game in their last three games in all competition.

They however can boast of an air tight defence who have kept clean sheet in each of their last four games.

Now only two points behind leaders Hearts Of Oaks all Michael need is a re-enforcement in attack to give their rivals a hot title chase.

Dreams FC's premiership story was mirrored yesterday against Medeama. Just like their season they started the game on fire, took a 2 goals lead through Lawson Bekui and Aaron Amoah. Back from recess they threw the game away and allowed Medeama to pick a point with goals from Akwesi Donsu and Bismark Oppong.

Ashanti Gold continued with probably the worst ever title defence in the history of Ghana football with another draw at home. The miners are without a win in their last five games in the league.

In the 'Fante Derby' at the Essipong Stadium, Hasaacas came from a goal down to pick all 3 points against Dwarfs.

Justice Mensah gave Dwarfs a first half lead but they couldn't hold on as goals from Eric Bekoe and Samuel Afful overturned the scores for Hasmal.

The crabs still languish at the base of the lesgue log.

WAFA at the Red Bull Arena defeated Techiman City by a solitary goal by Emmanuel Boateng.

The game between Liberty Professionals and New Edubiase United couldn't come on as scheduled after a heavy downpour at Accra.

The game will take place this afternoon at Carl Reindorf park in Dansoman.

The first round of the league will enter it penultimate week this midweek across eight centers with the pick of the pack at Was between Allstars and Asante Kotoko.

Hearts Of Oaks versus Liberty promises to be exciting though it will be honored behind closed doors.
