Ex-ghana Captain Quarshie undergoes successful operation

Ex-Ghana captain Emmanuel Quarshie arrived home from Egypt on Monday night after undergoing a successful operation on Parkinson.

The former Sekondi Hasaacas player has been in Cairo for the past two –weeks on the invitation of his former club Zamalek to undergo treatment for what was earlier thought was lung cancer.

But it later revealed the Ghanaian was suffering from Parkinson and not cancer as earlier believed.

Officials of Zamalek were shocked at the plight of their former icon when they came to Ghana to play Berekum Chelsea in the Caf Champions League group A opener.

He was flown to the Egyptian capital, Cairo on July 17 where he underwent a successful operation.

He is expected to go back in a month for a review of his ailment.

Quarshie was a key member for Zamaleks during the team’s glory days in the 19880s.

He won severa titles with the Cairo giants including their first CAF Champions League crown in 1984.

He also captained the Black Stars to win their last African title in 1982 in Libya but was shockinghly left to his fate until officials of his former club arrived in the country to salvage the situation.
