Asante Kotoko coach David Duncan has hit out at referee Joseph Lamptey for disallowing a good goal in their 2015 MTN FA Cup final defeat to Medeama on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 2-1 at the Sekondi Stadium but the talking point was about Richard Mpong’s disallowed equalizer.

The substitute headed in a spilled ball from goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe but referee Lamptey whistled for an infringement inside the box-which was unclear.

This was shortly after Medeama had shot ahead through substitute Bismark Oppong.

Duncan felt that decision proved costly in his side’s fight back.

“It was always billed to be an exciting game and it lived up to that kind of billing but I think it suffered some kind of anti-climax. We play with efficiency. We don’t play to please the fans or to the gallery,” Duncan told Supersport in a post-match interview.

“Even though there were a few lapses here and there especially with the way our first and second goals were conceded but I thought that due to our character, we came back and under normal circumstances should have clawed back a goal and I still maintain that the second goal should have stood.”

Kotoko failed to avenge the 1-0 defeat they suffered in the 2013 final.
