Chelsea’s reported move for Gyan not surprising - Sarpong

Former Ebusua Dwarfs Coach JE Sarpong says he is not surprised by a reported interest from English Premier League side Chelsea to sign Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan.

Caught Offside is said to have reported that the former English Champions are planning a shock deal for the Ghanaian international in the summer transfer window.

Gyan who is currently the all-time top scorer for the Black Stars could be on his way back to the English Premier League after 5 years.

JE Sarpong who natured the Shanghai SIPG attacker during his youth days at Accra Academy says he is not surprised by the imminent interest from the former European Champions.

“I am not surprised, Gyan have been one of the excellent players in Black Stars, to me he is one of the best strikers in Africa, “ he told Kasapa FM.

“It will be good for him to move back to England. I think he can succeed, I just hope he is fit , but I am not surprised that a team like Chelsea want him.”

Gyan scored 10 gaols in 33 appearances for Sunderland in the 2011/12 season before joining Al Ain in the UAE.
