Ayew unconcerned with Egyptian media antics

Black Stars midfielder Andre Ayew has said he is unconcerned by the psychological games being played by the Egyptian media ahead of their World Cup qualifying game against the Pharaohs.

Various Egyptian portals have been reporting that the absence of skipper Asamoah Gyan and Kwadwo Asamoah would affect the Ghanaian side.

“I think we don’t have anything to prove to anybody. What we have to do is to prove that we can get the job done. What they say is their problem. They can say what they want. The last time that we played the Egyptians, it was also a World Cup qualifier. Thank God we went through,” he stated.

“We know that they are taking this game very personally, but we are also here (Egypt) to play football. We are not looking at anything else. We are not looking at what is going on and what is being said. We are just focusing on our game.”

Ayew revealed that the mood in camp was great going into the game.

“Everything is OK. Everyone has reported to camp physically and is mentally fit, so, we are prepared to go out there and give our all. We know it is going to be a very difficult game. The level of training is really high indeed and we are good to go.”

Having failed to pick all three points on the opening day against Uganda, the Black Stars are desperate to return to winning ways and secure the solitary ticket from the group to qualify for a fourth successive World Cup.
