Bournemouth talented midfielder Christian Atsu is confident his Ghanaian compatriot Andre ‘Dede’ Ayew will be a hit for English Premier League Swansea City.

Ayew has signed with Swansea on a free transfer from French side Marseille after weeks of negotiations with several clubs in England.

The Ghanian moved to the Premier League on a four-year deal after his contract at French club Marseille was not renewed.

Ayew will brought in to bolster the Swans’ attacking options this summer, the club having lost Wilfried Bony to Manchester City in January and his short-term replacement, loanee Nelson Oliveira, having returned to Benfica.

Atsu, who is on loan at newly-promoted English Premier League side Bournemouth, says his national team-mates has what it takes to succeed in the English top-flight.

“Dede is a great player of Ghana and also for Marseille and with this new challenge in his life and the way I see Dede I believe strongly that he will be a great player in Swansea because he has the desire and is always determined to win,” the former Everton player told Starr Sports.

“Though this season is a new season for him, I know that it will be a great season for him.”

Ayew’s contract was allowed to run down at Marseille because of reported financial constraints at the club and he was linked with Tottenham and Roma.

The Ghanaian is the son of three-time African Football of the Year winner Abedi Ayew Pelle, who spent five years at Marseille over two separate spells.

But with a career spent in the French leagues Ayew admitted he had always wanted to make the move to the Premier League.
