Ahmed Toure: I was fit to play against Hearts

Ahmed Toure has stated that he was fully fit to have featured for Asante Kotoko in their 2-1 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak on match day 25 of the First Capital Plus Premier League, but it was Coach David Duncan’s decision not to select him for the game.

Ahmed Toure was suffering from Malaria infection ahead of their 0-1 defeat to WAFA at Sogakope last two weeks and was also rested against Ashgold in Kumasi last week.

There were reports the player had recovered fully prior to the Porcupine Warriors Super clash against the Phobians, but his coach left him out of the 18 man squad for the game.

Many people thought the absence of the leading mask man of the Porcupine Warriors was due to his failure to pass late fitness test, but he has voiced out that he was fully fit to have played a role in the game.

“I was fit to play, but they thought my condition wasn't good, so I was dropped. I trained very well in the course of the week and was 100% fit.

“Although, I didn’t have a part to play in the game, I think the team spirit in Kotoko is now high and I admire the fighting spirit. We can finish in the top four," he told Metro FM.

Ahmed Toure is Kotoko’s leading scorer in the ongoing league with 10 goals.

Asante Kotoko will host WA All Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
