Agyemang Badu misses out on final three for Puskas Awards

Ghanaian and Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu failed to make the final three for the FIFA Puskas Award after his exceptional goal he scored against Guinea at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations was penciled down in the 10 man shortlist by the world football governing body of Football.

Badu was in contention alongside Barcelona and Argentina player Lionel Messi, Atletico Madrid and Columbia striker Radamal Falcao, Brazilian and internacional playmaker Neymar and Miroslav Stoch from Fenerbahçe.

The 21-year-old’s goal at the 2012 Africa cup of nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea needed to receive the highest votes before he could have emerge victorious or make the Final three.

The Puskas award is given to a player, male or female adjudged to have scored the ‘most beautiful goal’ of the season.

It’s the first time a nominee for the FIFA Puskas award has been selected twice: Neymar was nominated last year and won; he’s again amongst the nominees. It’s also the first time a player from Slovakia (Miroslav Stoch) could win any FIFA award.
