#iChooseJM encourages 18+ to get registered and choose

Ahead of the 2016 Limited Voters Registration exercise which commences tomorrow 28th day of April, 2016, the organisers of #iChooseJM are calling on the youth of Ghana to awaken their political rights and get registered, so as to enable them to fully participate in the upcoming 2016 electoral process.

As youths, we call on our colleagues who have attained 18 years of age and above, and are yet to get voter ID Cards, to now take advantage of the new opportunity provided by the Electoral Commission, and get registered.
Between tomorrow and next week Sunday, 8th May, we expect such unregistered youth to walk to a Registration Centre, provide personal details to the Electoral Officer on duty and get registered, in order to have the right to CHOOSE during the November election.
The right of expression in choosing a preferred candidate is guaranteed by the laws of Ghana and no youth (with a Ghanaian parent) must allow himself/herself to be intimidated by any body, in the exercise of this political right.
We have received concerns over attempts by some political leaders and their followers to use unlawful and crude means to prevent some youth from registering in certain constituencies.

We however state that we are committed to keenly follow events at such centers and help protect the rights of our youth from being abused by such political heads and their thugs.

We are hopeful that the law enforcement officers detailed to provide security at these Registration Centres will be activated with complaints in cases of threats and intimidation by anyone who dares to illegally prevent a registration from taking place.

#iChooseJM hereby encourages the Ghanaian youth to CHOOSE Peace, CHOOSE Security and CHOOSE Development.
