Christian Council, Ahmaddiyya Mission urge religious leaders to fight corruption

The Christian Council of Ghana and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana have stressed the need for religious leaders to use their faiths to fight corruption in the country and promote morality among their membership.

The two faith-based organisations are also of the belief that, faith has a critical role to play in the fight against the current immoral canker undermining the development of the country, adding that, religious leaders should use their platforms to build the morality of their members and speak against the ills in our society.

This came to light when the newly appointed Ameer and Missionary-in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih paid a courtesy call on the Christian Council of Ghana at its Secretariat in Accra on Wednesday.

The General Secretary of the Council, Rev Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong who received the Ameer and his delegation said, religion has a tremendous role to play in the socio-economic development of the country and the various religious bodies must actively participate in the development processes of the country.

He congratulated Maulvi Muhammed Bin Salih on his appointment as the new Ameer to take over from the late Maulvi Wahab Adams.

“We assure Maulvi Bin Salih and the entire Mission in Ghana of our continued partnership in contributing to religious harmonization, peace and development of this great nation of ours,” he assured.

On his part, the newly appointed Ameer said, he will work with the Council to promote morality among its members across the country.

“I will ensure that, I build on the solid relationship between the Council and Ahmadiyya Mission to promote religious harmonization and peace in the country. We are one people with different faiths and we must use our various faiths to serve our common humanity” he stated.
