Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

Shame, Disgrace and Bitterness will forever be his Portion. His descendants will know that Man can never Change the destiny of his fellow human being.

Atuguba missed a golden opportunity to be a visionary and competent jurist. At least the "acting CJ" role has done him some character refurbishment.
