Accra Polo club beat Inanda of South Africa

Accra Polo Club of Ghana beat visiting Inanda Polo Club of South Africa 5-2 in their international Polo competition played at the Accra Polo grounds at the weekend. The visitors took an early lead in the seventh minute of the first chukka through a goal scored by Campbell Macnab but they recoiled into their shells and allowed the Ghanaians to dominate. It came as no surprise when the Ghanaians scored three quick goals in the third, seventh and eighth minutes of the second chukka through Ziad Yamak, Kwakye Dopoa Dei and Adamo Yaro in the order. Accra Club scored two more goals through Kenneth Quartey and Yamak in the fourth chukka as against one by the South Africans through Andrew Dewar. The competition dubbed "Knock out" which was sponsored by Golden Tulip Hotel as part of the seventh anniversary celebration of the hotel also formed part of the activities marking the 40th anniversary celebration of Ghana Airways. Mr Frank Adu Junior, Captain of Accra Polo Club called on other corporate bodies to help develop the sport. Mr Thom Sheriff, General Manager of Golden Tulip Hotel assisted by Mrs Sherley Ababio, Chairperson of Ghana Airways, presented the magnificent trophy to Kwakye Dopoa Dei who captained the Ghana team.
