BOLGA NABA WITHDRAWS SUIT

Bolgatanga (U/E)

The Bolga Naba Martin Abilba the second has withdrawn a case he sent to the Bolgatanga high court against the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, seeking annulment of a recent election of officers of the house. The supervising high court judge of the region, Mr Justice S.E. Kanyoke, told newsmen in Bolgatanga today that counsel for Bolga Naba, Mr William Atubuga sent a letter to the court to withdraw the case, which was scheduled to be heard today. The Bolga Naba Martin Abilba, the paramount chief of Bolgatanga traditional area and the immediate past president of the house brought the action seeking a declaration that the election of offices of the house was improper because divisional chiefs, who are members of the house, were not allowed to vote. He also sought a declaration to prevent the elected officers from holding themselves in various capacities and conducting meetings until the substantive case was determined. Mr Atubuga, at last Friday's sitting, indicated his clients willingness to handle the case in a way not to sow a seed of discord in the house.
