Ghana played Guinea with a winning mentality - Atsu

Ghana winger Christian Atsu has said the Black Stars went into the quarter-final game against Guinea with a desire to win and it paid off.

The Chelsea-owned player, who netted twice in the 3-0 win over the Syli Nationale, insists the four-time African champions are keeping their composure as they aim at annexing the trophy.

“The game against Guinea was not easy, they are a strong side but what helped us is that we went into the game with determination and a winning mentality which helped us,” the 23-year-old former Porto winger said after the game.

Coach Avram Grant’s side will face off with hosts Equatorial Guinea mid-week. Atsu admits it is going to be a tough game.

“It was a great game against Guinea and we hope to do more than this on Wednesday against Equatorial Guinea because playing the host nation at this stage will not be easy,” Atsu, who is on loan at Everton, said.
