AFCON 2015: Equatorial Guinea and Congo reach quarter final

Goals from Javier Balboa and Ivan Salvador ensured host nation Equatorial Guinea reached the quarterfinals of the 2015 Africa Nations Cup as they beat Gabon in Bata on Sunday.

Balboa scored from the penalty spot before substitute Slavador netted from close range.

Congo beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in Group A’s other game, meaning Congo and Equatorial Guinea go through to the next round.

Second-half goals from Thievy Bifouma and Fabrice Ondama secured a 2-1 win for Congo over Burkina Faso at the Nuevo Estadio de Ebebiyín.
