Image and credibility of CHRAJ has been dented

The former commissioner at the Commission of Human Rights And Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Justice Emile Short has expressed disappointment on the revelations about the current CHRAJ Boss Loretta Vivian Lamptey whose actions and inactions has caused Ghana a huge sum of money. Justice Emile Short speaking with FRONTLINE this morning made it clear that the revelation are disturbing and has dented the image and credibility of the Commission both locally and internationally. "I have received many calls from people and institutions abroad expressing concern about the revelation", he said. He explained that an international consulting firm funded by the United nations Development Programmes (UNDP)which was to visit about 8 countries including Ghana to undertake a study tour of the progress made by national human rights institution in Africa, after hearing about this revelation which had gone viral withdrew Ghana's name from their list of countries to be visited. He said this has 'become a blow to the country', he said. Justice Emile Short also expressed surprise as to why Madam Loretta Vivian Lamptey still resides in a hotel. He described her actions as disturbing as she could have stayed in the apartment given to her by the State since it was not in a deplorable state.

He said before he left office as the CHRAJ Boss, the apartment was habitable just that it became vacant for about a year when his predecessor Mr Bossman did not stay in the apartment because he had his own place to stay. Though as Commissioner, she has the right to exercise her discretion and also take decisions for the Commission, it should be rightly placed. He expressed disappointment about the why authorities in charge are delaying in making sure the right thing is done.
