Grant’s imminent arrival excites Gyan

Grant will come in to lead the Black Stars to the impending 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea after Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the country’s FA, confirmed his appointment, subject to approval from the Executive Committee.

Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan has since jumped at the chance to welcome the Israeli tactician, who led the Blues (Chelsea) to runners-up finishes in the English Premier League, Champions League and League Cup in the 2007/08 season.

“Avram Grant is a known coach everywhere in the world when it comes to football, we all know the kind of things he has done, especially with Chelsea and even some other clubs in the English Premier League.”

“Although he has not won the Champions League, he is a top coach and we believe that the team will have to work together to be able to help him.”

“The (Ghana) FA president (Nyantakyi) has spoken to us about the incoming coach and we will welcome him anytime he comes. Grant is a good coach and personally I will be glad to work with him.”

“The players alone and even Grant cannot win the African Cup of Nations, it will take a collective effort from all of us to be able to win the AFCON.”
