GFA to meet on delayed start to the Premier League

Footy-ghana.com understands that the Emergency Committee of the Ghana Football Association will soon meet to discuss ways of paving the way for the Premier League season to officially kick off.

The 2014/2015 season is yet to kick off as a result of an interlocutory junction placed on football activities by King Faisal, as a result of the club’s case thrown out by the GFA’s Disciplinary and Appeals Committee.

King Faisal was relegated at the end of last season, but brought a case against Aduana Stars to the effect that the Dormaa-based club had failed to pay some imposed fines within the stipulated 14 days.

According to GFA statutes, failure to pay imposed fines within the stipulated period attracts points deduction.

Whilst Aduana Stars strenuously denies having breached the GFA statutes in that light, King Faisal took the matter to the Disciplinary Committee, which dismissed the case.

The Appeals Committee also did same, prompting King Faisal to place an injunction on the GFA Congress.

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that the meeting was held on Tuesday between the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and representatives of the 16 Premier League clubs of last season and the three newly promoted clubs in a bid to fill the time with a competition.

Our sources however reveal that King Faisal owner Alhaji Grunsah, who was present at the meeting, informed the gathering that he was prepared to explore all legal avenues to push his club’s case.

The GFA Emergency Committee will thus look for ways of convincing Alhaji Grunsah to agree to an out-of-court settlement, in order to pave the way for the season to commence.
