Brazil police wanted to arrest Sulley Muntari

Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantayki has revealed Brazilian security officials had wanted to prosecute Sulley Muntari following his physical assault on Black Stars Management Committee member Moses Armah during the 2014 World Cup.

The AC Milan star attacked and injured a Ghana FA official over appearance fee row and was sent from home along with Schalke 04 midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng who had also had a confrontation with the Ghana head coach.

“The Brazilian police requested to arrest and prosecute Muntari after the incident so we had to take a decision,” he told the Commission.

Nyantakyi revealed during his appearances at Ghana’s Presidential Commission of Enquiry that Brazilian police officials requested to arrest and prosecute the former Portsmouth star attacked the Ghana FA member in brutal style under unprovoked circumstances.

“This was a very serious moment for us,” he added.

Sulley has since been suspended from the national team indefinitely.

However, he has openly demonstrated his readiness to return to international duty and travelled to Ghana to watch the Black Stars play against Uganda in a 2015 AFCON qualifying game despite being left out of the squad.
