Jesse, the same thing applies to Arthur Kennedy. He did not listen to good advise and words of wisdom. From his USA base as a promising medical doctor, he unrealistically sought to become president of Ghana straight, thinking his popularity as a student leader 3 decades earlier was enough constituency.

His handlers only fooled him to fill their pockets only for him to win only his own single vote at the NPP primaries. This earned him the disgraceful and unenviable accolade "Dr. Single One".

It didn't end there! He then descended on Central Region to contest at one of the constituencies there as an MP. The same disgrace and humiliation greeted him as he performed abysmally there.

Where is he now? He has packed bag and baggage back to USA to attempt to revive his failing medical career. He owes a lot of debts, both in Ghana and in the USA and his marriage has been on the roller-coaster for all these years.

People should learn to listen to good advice.

It is most likely he will actually perform worse on October 18 and must begin planning for his political rehabilitation. It may make sense for him to begin to find space within the Nana campaign post-October 18 and begin strategising for 2020.

The decision to contest for this election means two possible things: 1) that he Alan is so stupid he failed to see and do what even a child would see and do, he could not challenge the popularity of Nana Akufo Addo and should have just supported the man from the beginning which in any outcome would have made him popular to stand a chance next time. 2) He might have collected money from either NDC camp or from the haters of Nana withing the NPP, people like Npianim who we believe wants to hide and be enjoying his loot from his time in the kofours government of which Nana has complained about. either way he is not good as a presidential material for NPP and at this point i dont think he should be allowed anywhere near Nana because he can not be trusted. NDC was able to steal the 2012 elections because they had help from Alans group like kwabena Agyapong who managed to get into the strong room and sold Nana for free

Today this same delegate he sacrificed for do not remember what hi did at the Legon Congress.
Alan should know that a soldier who sympathizes wid his enemies at the battle front is shot dead by a weaker and an inexperienced army. He gave Nana Addo that slot and now you suffer for that MISTAKE.

Look, politics doesn't work that way, Kwaaku. Alan can, and probably should, bow out NOW and confidently and with excitement throw his weight on Akufo Addo's campaign. The fact that he opposed Akufo Addo doesn't mean he has to continue to oppose him, even after it has become clear that Akufo is the favored candidate. Decision-making is a dynamic process and individuals make, and should make, decisions based on new information that becomes available. The new information for Alan is that the probability of winning the NPP nomination is next to zero. Armed with this new information, Alan should make a revised decision, and that could very well be to support Nana Addo. There is nothing wrong with that!

The Progress Party lost elections in 1979 because of the formation of a splinter party, the UNC led by William Ofori Atta together with others including Nana Addo. So Allan may also come to lead the NPP one day inspite of his threat to break away in 2008. For now, the earliest Allan can lead NPP is for Nana Addo to lose in 2016 to any NDC candidate which would rule him completely and for ever. Allan is participating in the current contest to keep himself in a good position for 2020. Is that the NPP are calling AGENDA 2020? Well, their fears might just come true. Time will tell.

If Alan opts out, that will show that he understands the practicalities of party politics.

If Alan continues, he is likely to annoy NPP members who currently feel that Alan is not the right candidate NOW but could have his day next time Nana Addo is out of the race.

I don't agree with you on this issue Mr Baako. I believe it will be better for him to do that. I always think for now Alan can win elections easily for NPP but Akuffo Addo will be a better president than Alan. From what has happened from the just elections, it will be good if Alan should step down and fully support Akuffo Addo than for him to contest him. This will help remove the current cracks in the NPP.
It is now very clear NDC has failed the nation with their try and error policies and Ghana needs NPP now.
Let all the NPPs come together to attract lots of floating voters who normally decide the results of elections.
Mahama can go into deep gutters just as a form of gimmick but it will never work. Those days are long overdue for Ghana need good leaders than we a seeing from him.
