Akufo-Addo should step down - Ohene Ntow

Spokesperson to Alan Kyerematen, Nana Ohene Ntow in his plea to NPP elders and leaders to vote for his boss, has asked Nana Akufo-Addo to honorably step down for and to honour Alan Kyerematen as he has been obedient enough to step down for him and others in the past.

According to Nana Ohene Ntow, since 1992 there are people in the NPP who know the role Alan Kyerematen has played and his contribution to the party but some of them are destroying him and has overlooked the contribution he made to the party to help it regain it feet when it nearly collapsed in 1992.

The Former General Secretary of the NPP made this comment in reaction to a publication indicating that Team Alan has issued a tarnishing statement about the health of Nana Addo; stating that he will be unfit to contest the Presidential race in 2016.

Expressing his disappointment at the publication, he told party faithful on Okay FM’s “Ade Akye Abia” programme that; Alan is not a bad a person and that his ideas about Ghana will go a long way to help if NPP will give him the chance.

He added that Alan Kyerematen’s campaign message has always been issue-based and not to run on Nana Addo’s health to solicit for party support.

Giving evidence of a successful campaign from "Team Alan", Nana Ohene Ntow mentioned that the Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of NPP has applauded Alan Kyerematen for his clean and issue-based campaign.

“Wherever Alan went in his campaign, I was with him and I can say on authority that no leaflets were given out to damage Nana Addo in our campaign. Some opponents of Alan want the delegates to forget the message of hope from him and dwell on lies about Alan, that will bring division and confusion in the party.

“There have been all sorts of lies that Alan is not a founding member of NPP...I have been asking myself why almost everybody in the party is against Alan despite the fact that they are aware of his contribution to the progress of the party. I want the party to understand that too many lies will not help us and that they should rubbish those lies about Alan Kyerematen,” Nana Ohene Ntow said.

He explained that in 1996, Alan Kyerematen wanted to contest the Flagbearership position race, but the leaders of the party pleaded with him to allow the senior ones to contest, and he obliged to their call and never argued with them, he waited and served the party till he decided to contest the primaries again in 2007, but when he realized the heat the primaries had posed on the party at the University of Ghana Congress, he conceded defeat to avoid run-off for peace to reign in the party.

“He has done all these for the party and I think he deserves to be given the chance to stand as a Flagbearer of the NPP.

“Nana Addo has contested the Presidential election for two times, and it was proven that only NPP members voted for him; therefore, I am pleading with the leaders and Nana Addo himself that he has done well for the party, but he should step down for Alan this time because Alan has done that for Nana Addo before...he should support Alan and let’s win the 2016 elections with the support of the floating voters,” he pleaded.
