Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Nkoranza North, Eric Amoateng is still in Police custody for failing to meet his bail bond.
Mr. Amoateng was granted a Ghc200,000 bail with two sureties by an Accra Circuit Court on Friday after he was charged with fraudulently acquiring a passport.
A family source told Citi News, they still working to get him out of Police custody.
Eric Amoateng was taken into custody by the Nima Police after being held by the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) upon his arrival in the country.
Mr. Amoateng served a 10-year jail term in the United States of America (USA) for dealing in narcotics.
He arrived in Ghana on Thursday, but was whisked away by NACOB officials for debriefing.
Family members, sympathizers and residents of Nkoranza North thronged the Kotoka International Airport to welcome him.
