The National Women's Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita Desooso has been allegedly banned from going to the United States of America by the US State Department.
According to sources close to Adom FM, Ms. Desooso, who is also the Deputy National Coordinator of the NADMO, was denied visa on Wednesday August 6th, 2014 by the US Embassy.
This embarrassment has been linked to her alleged threat to an American lady named Michelle McGowan, a philanthropist who came to Ghana to help some children with skin diseases locally referred to as the ‘Alligator Children.'
Anita Desooso together with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur got the lady arrested for child trafficking and subsequently sent her packing to her home country.
In a purported recording of the NDC Women’s Organizer produced by Ms. McGowan, she [Anita] was heard threatening that ‘…if she dare not call her (Anita), she would be looked for everywhere and dealt with for trying to spoil the name of the President (Mahama).'
Based on this backdrop, according to the source, Anita Desoso has now been put on USA ‘no-fly list’ just like terrorists across the world.
However, the Public Affairs Department of US Embassy in Accra has denied knowledge of the supposed ban.
They claim just like any other Ghanaian denied a visa, Ms. Desooso could have suffered the same fate.
When contacted for her side of the story on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Wednesday, the Deputy NADMO Coordinator said she will not comment on the matter.
“The case is now in the hands of God, but at the appropriate time I will react,” she added.
