First Lady arrives in Namibia for cervical cancer Confab

The First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has arrived in Windhoek Namibia to participate in a Conference of African First Ladies working against cervical cancer.

Dubbed the 8th Stop Cervical Cancer in Africa Conference, the African First Ladies will review their individual and country efforts, and “formulate new strategies towards guaranteeing universal access to cervical cancer prevention.”

The Conference will also consider new plans aimed at ending cervical cancer in Africa by 2030.

Mrs. Mahama who has through her organization, the Lordina Foundation, being leading an awareness creation programme aimed at preventing the cancer, has also been partnering the Ghana AIDS Commission and the Ministry of Health to ensure a successful pilot stage of HPV vaccination and also breast cancer awareness, screening and testing sessions throughout the country.

Mrs. Mahama who arrived in Windhoek on Saturday is expected back on Thursday.
