Ghana’s former President, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, has said the world must support a political and diplomatic solution to the crisis in Ukraine.
Former President Rawlings, who has been outspoken on the crisis, said, “The world must support Ukraine as is being suggested but this has to be done through very serious political negotiations if the desired stability is to be achieved”.
The former President said as provocative as the situation was turning out to be, the world must appeal to all sides from drawing blood or igniting an already volatile situation.
He also cautioned NATO and the Western media to be circumspect in their statements on the crisis as that had the potential of sparking a bigger conflict.
“Let it not be said one day, if we survive it, that Christiane Amanpour and Anders Rasmussen sitting in the safe comfort of their offices at CNN and Brussels created the climate for war.
“Amanpour accuses Russia and Putin of lying when she is the one using CNN to misinform their viewers. The less we hear from warmongers, the better the chances of a political solution,” the former President stated.
