They threaten us with superstition , juju and what have you and we say fuck you and go to hell as the divine power is with us . Yes all the tribes of Akan are fingers on the same hands and God has ordained we remain united so our strength and light will be visible throughout the whole world and universe , our time has come . everyday its becoming clearer and clearer to all children of Akan that we must prepare mentally for a battle of freedom . they come with tricks that say we must take a non Akan as our leader because its nice ? do they not think that out of 30 million Akans we can not find sensible down to earth leaders and warriors to lead our own people to our own destiny? a govt of the people and by the people is what the 21st century democracy is all about . let them continue to play with the consensus and other figures that justify their fantasy and enable them to marginalize the participation of the Akan majority in the Affairs of their own land , to marginalize us thus preventing us to afford a better standard for our people . The had of God has given them pestilence after pestilence but they refuse to let our people go , soon they will be swept away like chaff in the hurricane of fury . Long live the republic of Akan and don't you forget it as now the Fanti speakers, Twi speakers, Ashantis and other tribes of Akan are now one .

Our Ambassadors conduct due diligence on companies seeking to do business with the Government of Ghana. How could the previous and current Ambassadors in Tokyo have overlooked the need to conduct background checks on the so-called NGO before leasing part of the Embassy complex to them, knowing very well that they were bound by rules to protect the image of Ghana and its Diplomatic Mission? Both the past and current Ambassadors do not deserve the enviable position of Ambassador if they forgot the elementary rule on due diligence. Or, is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs trying to cover up for them?

So who agreed those terms and signed the agreement? Apparently the previous Ambassador agreed the terms but couldn't sign before his departure? New Ambassador signed without the need to xcheck anything again, eh? Some heads must roll, esp. the heads of the Embassy staff who handled the brief. They failed to do their duty.

It will be impossible for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the Ministers for those almost four years to deny they did not Know what was going on unless the Ambassadors stole the rental income. Did the Ministry of Foreign Affairs check how the Embassy was generating funds and its expenditure?

I read one other report which said the current Ambassador is a career diplomat; appointed as diplomat prior to his retirement, I suppose. It is a normal practice as a reward for long service the world over. It is a pity that he has been caught up in this mess not of his doing. He should have reviewed the contract though before renewing it.

It is simply amazing that they'd rent out part of the Embassy premises to a gambling company, with Russian roulettes, One-armed bandits and all! Phew! And I was thinking they were all bleeding heart believers! I think this calls for another day of prayers to save the souls of Ghanaians from the ever burning eternal fire! Somebody should send a word to TB to join us!

If the statement here is the Ambassadors defense in such shameful diplomatic embarrassment brought to Ghana, then he and his "woyomenized" materially centered masters better

Assuming the Ambassador's explaination here is even right, is he telling us that he did not take time to inspect the property to know the details before signing? Was he high on drugs or drunk when signing the document? Tweaaaaa! and he's an appointed Ambassador? Somebody help me here!

For the information of the ignoramuses who are posting comments to condemn our Ambassador, the various embassies and high commissions we see around do not just exist to grant or refuse visa applications. Their main mandate is to look after the interests of their countries in Ghana. They do so by spying on us and gathering all sorts of information to be sent back to their home countries for decisions to be made concerning Ghana and also for actions to be taken to secure their national interest as far as Ghana is concerned. Naturally, Ghanaian embassies across the world are expected to do similar jobs in the countries to which they have been sent.

In case these ignoramuses do not know how these things are done, let me educate them that a lot of dirty deals are wrought and executed by the ambassadors and high commissioners in order to get sensitive information which will help safeguard their national interests. Presidents of nations are seriously involved in such dirty deals which sometimes involves very serious bribery, assassinations, murders, plots of all kinds, sanctioned thefts, promotion of prostitution as well as gambling and the narcotic trade for the purpose of gathering information from the dregs of any society's underworld, cover-ups etc. In fact, the activities of diplomats the world over are full of cloak-and-dagger atmospherics.

It is precisely for these reasons that Presidents of nations would readily declare war if the generals of this murky diplomatic skulduggery (i.e. the ambassadors and high commissioners) are arrested to face justice in the country to which they have been sent. Therefore the various countries of the world met in Vienna several years ago and signed a treaty to exempt the Diplomatic Corps from becoming liable to face justice in the host country for their nefarious activities should they be caught doing so by the host country.

Therefore, issues of that nature are hardly admitted by the sending country when their officials are caught doing dirty deals in the host country. Such issues are usually settled quietly behind closed doors but these ignoramuses do not seem to know this and hence the reason for their display of illiteracy on this matter.

I wonder what guff Hannah Tetteh must have made on this issue on her facebook wall apart from the harmless statement that the matter is being investigated. I fear that Hannah Tetteh can easily guff on such matters since she is on record to have told American diplomats in the weakileaks that the current Chairman of the NDC party is infantile or immature in his thinking and speech. Such a loose talker who does not understand the world of diplomats should not have been made a foreign minister in the first place because she can easily give the game away any day.

A discreet silence on diplomatic issues is the best way of resolving them because such silence then enables Ghana's diplomats to work with the diplomats of the affected country to resolve them. For instance, do we know what our security agencies have uncovered over the years as regards the nefarious activities of the Japanese Embassy in Ghana which we can then use as a bargaining chip on this current case? These things are a daily reality in the world of diplomats. Is it not true that the British High Commission and the American Embassy worked hand in hand to pay bribes to General Kotoka and Afrifa and a host of others to stage the coup against Kwame Nkrumah? Who tells these ignorant journalists that such activities have come to an end and that the world is now as good and peaceful as Heaven and hence only Ghana's Ambassador Edmond Kofi Agbenutse Deh is the only diplomatic villain who deserves to be denounced even by his own people and government?

The cloack and dagger business you describe is the preserve of National Security agents who operate under the guise of diplomats at every Diplomatic Mission. Assignments that border on criminality are embarked upon strictly on directives issued by Governments of the sending State. No such assignments are undertaken without prior authorization from Government. Normal diplomats like the previous and current Ambassadors to Japan are solely charged with projecting and protecting Ghana's image and interests abroad. They mobilize investments and foreign capital for national development and cater for the welfare of Ghanaians in the receiving State. They have no business dealing with gamblers, much more rent diplomatic premises to gamblers. The rental of any part of the diplomatic property or building to any foreign entity without the express authorization of Government, represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is strictly forbidden. Even where such action is deemed necessary background checks or due diligence must be conducted on the foreign entity, and prior approval sought from the Minister of Foreign Affairs before proceeding to lease out any part of the diplomatic property. There is so the question of whether or not the receiving State, in this case Japan, allows diplomatic missions to engage in the rental business. This must be established and cited as part of the justification to rent out part of the Embassy building to a local entity.
The questions to ask are whether the Government of Ghana had any business in doing business with the Gamblers, and whether the previous and current Ambassadors sought approval or authorization to deal with the Gamblers. The reaction of the Foreign Minister clearly shows that Government had no prior knowledge of the decision of the two Ambassadors to enter into that business relationship with the Gamblers. Government does not appear to have any interest in doing business with the Gamblers. So, sort to say, Mr. Kojo Azemeti, you have got it all wrong.

Hannah Tetteh assumed that the American diplomats she was speaking to were safe for her to confide in but today, we all know that she had assumed wrongly since they are all intelligence officers in that embassy. See the weakileaks expose on Hannah Tetteh and you will understand the depth of her folly in thinking that she was speaking to people who are merely here to promote the good image of their country.

You again assumed that the Ghana Government knows nothing about our ambassador's deals with the gamblers. How childish can you be! You think that the Ghana Government would easily admit such a scandalous matter? Then you must be a kid indeed!!!

Finally, consider this: our black colour makes us very very conspicuous in a country of light skinned people like Japan. Therefore, we may need an interface to be able to gather intelligence in such an environment. How better to cultivate that interface than to use unpatriotic and conscienceless dregs of society such as gamblers, prostitutes and the like!!! Now, such people would also ask for some form of "payment" in return and the use of premises covered by diplomatic immunity may give them that sense of security to operate in confidence and to feel that the deal they have wrought is a win win situation.

It is indeed sad and also interesting for the story to suggest that the Ambassador was deceived to sign an agreement when he had no idea or background information of the group as an NGO.
If for the sake of cheap money, the Mission's Official residence could be used as a rental office, then the nation is in trouble. Should the Foreign Ministry tell Ghanaians if it was aware of the transactions which is claimed to have been going on before the new envoy went?
Nobody should be shielded in this scandal and heads must roll with EOCO,BNI, Ghana's Interpol as well as Parliament plus the judicial all plunging into full scale inquiries to unravel the true picture.
A similar case of a Ghanaian envoy caught in an act in Germany some years back were shredded in secrecy.
