A leading Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul Afoko, has pledged his continual support for Nana Akufo-Addo if he is retained as the party’s presidential candidate for 2016.
Mr. Afoko who is eyeing the NPP national Chairman position told Citi News he will be the last person to kick against Nana Addo’s presidential ambition.
“For two different elections preceding, it has been Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, and we, especially me, has fought tooth and nail to ensure that he won the presidency; if you went round the three northern regions, Brong Ahafo and parts of Western and Ashanti regions and asked them, they will tell you the effort I put in to fight to ensure that we won power.”
He emphasized: “I am a party animal and I am not a creature or creative for an individual in the NPP, and I say Paul Afoko will unite this party as national Chairman.”
According to Mr. Afoko, what is paramount in the NPP now is unity for which reason members should avoid divisive tendencies.
Mr. Afoko repeated that his major priority is to lead the party to victory in 2016, regardless of who leads the party.
“The Chairman is a person who should come out as an honest broker to unite the party for a landslide victory in 2016, and Paul Afoko as party Chairman will be the person to unify this party.”
