God will grant Ghana peace - Lawrence Tetteh

Dr Lawrence Tetteh, an International Evangelist, on Thursday assured Ghanaians that God would grant the nation peace despite the widespread fear that the Supreme Court verdict on the election petition would lead to bloodshed.

“God has never failed Ghana before, and God will never fail us this time,” he said in an interview with Ghana News Agency, in Accra.

Dr Tetteh, also the Chaplain of the Christian Council of Ghana in the UK and Ireland, said the civil manner in which the election petitioners- the New Patriotic Party conducted themselves in resorting to the law courts for redress and the response of the National Democratic Congress to the process speaks well about the democratic credentials of the country.

“The panel of Judges at the Supreme Court have displayed a high level of professionalism to the delight of Ghanaians at home and abroad while the law enforcement agencies have also proven that they are in control of the situation.

“Above all, the tolerance and co-existence of Ghanaians have shown that the country is destined by God to enjoy the fruits of peace and stability.”

Dr Tetteh, who is the President of the UK-based Worldwide Miracle Outreach, said it was not for nothing that God authorised the clergy to call for peace after the court verdict and to pray to achieve national stability and cohesion.

“The men of God play a paramount role in the peaceful co-existence of the citizenry in every nation and where they have neglected this function wars could not be prevented.

“ History tells us that the founding fathers of Ghana have always fallen on religious leaders in most deliberations in the building of the nation and in the Bible kings, priests and prophets ruled together to seek the face of the Lord in all things.”

Dr Tetteh said the word of God is more powerful than the carnal weapons of war and so “the good Lord being on the side of Ghanaians, the blood of the people will be protected from the designs of the enemy to prove once again that the election petition is of God”.

He said the election petition is a test case for Ghana to showcase itself as forebearers of peace and tranquility on the African Continent “and by the Grace of God we shall go through it successfully”.

Dr Tetteh said war in neighbouring countries shows how religious leaders failed to stand out for the truth and to live up to their responsibilities.
