President Rawlings In Germany

The President, Flt-Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, has opened an investment forum on Ghana in Hamburg as part of his tour of Germany. More than 100 German business entities based in Hamburg, took part in the forum which was sponsored by the African Association. Currently, 233 exporters and 76 importers in Hamburg have trade links with Ghana. Last year, the bilateral trade balance between Ghana and Germany stood at 147 million Deutsche Marks. President Rawlings said Ghana is growing the needed trading confidence and has the level of consciousness which every well-meaning businessman or woman should take advantage of. He said Ghana needs to team up with business people in countries such as Germany to achieve sustainable development. The President told the forum that Ghana has a stable political environment and a transparent economic atmosphere. He, however, hoped future investments would go to the agricultural sector because it offers the greatest potential for development. The President of the Africa Association, Mr.. Carlson Nordman, said the forum signifies the close connections between Ghana and Germany. He noted that the participation of a large number of business concerns in Hamburg in the forum is a sign of the growing confidence in the Ghanaian economy. The Vice President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce noted that Ghana abounds in potentials with a stable political climate which augurs well for investment. He therefore urged businesses to take advantage of Ghana's unique position as an economic model in Africa. End
