This policy by British government is discriminatory and the government should make sure it does not take roots in Ghana but the MP for Tarkwa's response is not the answer.

"MP for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Eugenia Kusi made the call on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday that Uk residents must be treated the same way when they want to visit Ghana."

More than 95% of British citizens who visit Ghana will not want to stay in Ghana to go and do Kayayei in Ghana. The British visitors to Ghana come as Tourists who spend their pounds in Ghana to create jobs in Ghana unlike Ghanaians who visit England and ends up becoming illegal residents cleaning toilets and car washing. Our economic situations are different to play the retaliatory policy this MP is suggesting because it will be Ghana that will suffer if we do as suggested as these British citizens will avoid coming to Ghana and pump their money into the economy.

The problem as I see now is that. we can't do anything, about this other than the Government of Ghana taking it up strongly upto even commonwealth level or International court.
My reason is that about 80% of British citizen visiting Ghana are our own citizen who has acquired British citizenship and their children born in UK.
How can we reiterate against our own poor who happens to be UK citizens.
£3000 is a lot of money for a average family of 4 visiting Ghana to see their relatives and projects in Ghana every year or so.
I am sick and tied about this President Mahama in action.

If they don't want us to come to their country, they should not come to ours. Ghana government must charge them 10000 GBP before they come and want other countries to do the same and let see how things go. If Ghana doesn't do anything drastic, they will come up with something else next time, and believe me, you will not like it. They travel more than anyone in the world. What British gov has done is not only barbaric, is shameful, insulting and divisive so we must tell them they have nothing and contribute nothing to our welfare. I want to even stretch the quantification by suggesting that only about 2% of Ghanaians who visit the UK are tourists or business people who are likely to return to Ghana. Of course majority Ghanaians would do anything to obtain UK's and once there, they prefer to stay for economic reasons.

Also, about 98% of British nationals who come to Ghana as tourists or business people have no interest in staying. They are more likely to return to their country. This is the more reason why retaliation in the same manner is counterproductive. To this end, Ghanaian authorities need to come up with a different policy measure to counteract UK's discriminatory immigration policy.

Should the deposit not given back when you return then that you can fight and be angry.
What I see is that the cost of investigation and deportation is taking a toll on their coffers; so I suspect that the deposit would be used to defray the cost should you not return voluntarily.
On the other hand they stand to gain by investing that deposit during the period of your stay. Consider how much they would be making.
My advice if you have such an amount invest it yourself.
There is no guarantee that going to Britain will make your life better.
The MPs should show maturity and fight for better things for the nation!!

We can't just leave our borders opened in the name of African Union or brothers and sisters. We don't even know who enters our country and the purpose of entering the country.

With the limited resources we have, we keep on using them on everyone, including the health care, education, agriculture and mining. Could imagine how the Nigerians, Ivorians, Togolese and Burkinabes or other Africans would take advantage of the so called "free education." We are always putting carts in front of horses.

Have you dunderheads ever pondered over the millions generated from British tourists in Ghana? We may even ban Brits from entering Ghana, but they will find somewhere else to spend their money.

On the other hand, how many Ghanaians really tour the UK ie spend money there? It is well known that even Ghanaian officials visiting the UK perch with friends and relatives just to save money to bring back to Ghana (and not waste in the UK)

Such bonds exist in many countries. In one country for instance, the invitee is bonded to pay about EUR 5.000, if their visitors do not fly back. And it makes no sense to remain because once you enter with visa, no matte wich hole you hide in the authorities will get you in a matter of days!

I want to even stretch the quantification by suggesting that only about 2% of Ghanaians who visit the UK are tourists or business people who are likely to return to Ghana. Of course majority Ghanaians would do anything to obtain UK's and once there, they prefer to stay for economic reasons.

Also, about 98% of British nationals who come to Ghana as tourists or business people have no interest in staying. They are more likely to return to their country. This is the more reason why retaliation in the same manner is counterproductive. To this end, Ghanaian authorities need to come up with a different policy measure to counteract UK's discriminatory immigration policy.

The first time I visited Germany my invitee was put on a 10.000 DM (Deutsch Mark) bond, so I had to leave the country a day before my visa expired.

They cry and curse on any provocation. They lie to authorities to escape their own country to pursuit happiness. They still live in their past of blaming slavery and colonization. Yet, they failed to develop their own country years and years after independence. They talked loud but take no action, they hate to innovate, create nor reason to improve their standard of living—ha but they are always dreaming of “pimpers” paradise.

All they think is to amass wealth, “connections”, and all possible manipulation to make money. Either stay home to build your country or deposit 3000 and visit. No need to cry blood people.

I do not blame the United Kingdom asking for three thousand pounds bond in advance before granting a common holiday visa to see the different site of the world after working for may be two to four years. All is because of the mismanagement, greediness, extortion, stealing and bad governance. Because of this Ghana still remains poor; and there is no work for the youth and the new graduates. And therefore, they flee out to go to the UK to look for job and refuse to return to their homeland. This is the main reason why the United Kingdom is taking an advantage of an unfortunate situation by extorting money from these poor immigrants to pay their immigration officers.
In Ghana the rich and the wealthy and those in Government positions are so greedy and not knowledgeable, because instead of using their riches and their positions to create jobs and develop the country; they rather build houses and buy fancy cars and live extravagantly with their girlfriends, (without even caring for their family) and squander all the nations riches by importing goods from the UK and other places. We create the market for the jobs in the UK. Why can’t we create jobs in our own country? Lack of job has created a condition where all the youth in Ghana are becoming prophets, because Ghanaians easily fall for fore-telling and forth-telling. Many young people after some two weeks training and fasting begin to tell dreams and visions that are not from God and declare themselves as prophets and begin extort money from the weak-minded Christians who have knowledge of the bible.
I do not understand why the UK has decided to raise revenue from people from these poor selected countries who are coming to them for a holiday and at times to stay and work and sustain the country.
I personally don’t think their motive for that bond is what they claim it is, because if a person does not return from the UK and decides to stay and work there, their monthly salary will pay off that three thousand pounds. They just need to be lenient with people who decide to visit their country and give them a chance to see other part of the world.
