Several homes and property worth millions of Ghana cedis were destroyed when fire gutted Sodom and Gomorrah, a suburb of Accra in the Greater Accra region.
Though the cause of the fire is yet to be established, personnel of the Ghana Fire Service have been battling the blaze for several hours.
The geography of the area is, however, hampering all relief and rescue efforts, the Service indicated.
Some residents told Citi News that they have lost all their belongings as a result of the inferno.
“I was asleep when I heard screams and shouts. I couldn’t pick up any of my belongings because of the way the fire was burning,” an affected resident said.
