Alan Kyeremanten meets Mahama over WTO job

Ghana’s candidate for the position of Director General of the World Trade Organization, Alan Kyeremanten was at the seat of the Presidency on Thursday March 7, 2013 to meet President John Mahama who has been lobbying for him at all his international engagements.

Information is sketchy about the agenda for the meeting between the two but XYZ News sources at the Flagstaff House said Mr Kyeremanten’s presence had something to do with his quest to become the DG of the WTO.

Mr Kyeremanten is seeking to succeed Pascal Lamy whose tenure ends on August 31, 2013.

No sooner had Mr Kyeremanten expressed interest in the position than President Mahama started lobbying for him at all international summits organized by the United Nations, African Union, ECOWAS as well as African Caribbean Pacific Countries.

The 57-year-old Ghanaian economist who contested his party’s presidential primaries twice but lost was spotted in a black suit over a white shirt at the Flagstaff House on Thursday March 7 being ushered into the president’s office by late President John Mills’ brother Dr Cadman Mills.

He was also seen being led to the vice president’s office later on.
