Dr Tony what is the relevance of what you are saying relating to the naferous activities of the mining companies in Ghana now.
The fact is were you always there to testify of even those companies you mentioned? How much TAX do these companies pay in Ghana? Let me make it clear to you if those companies are just paying 10%, 15% as TAX then they are not doing enough. How long has those companies you mentioned operated in Ghana? Have ever thought of urging them to build refineries in Ghana? I reckon no. You seem to be a young man but lac vision in post you have been given. That is a fact.
What about the current situation where Omanye Gold Mining Company is involved in transporting $80 million out of Ghana? Is it not the Mines Commission and the Chamber of Mines duty to come out boldly and clear the air for poor Ghanaians? Such a person like you only acquire educational degrees which is fine, but lacked clear fresight to do or Ghana in a meaningful way forward.
Surprisingly, you rather find it more appropriate to talk about the media communications on these bad companies.
Perhaps, your position is even unacceptable. Are you a square peg in a round hole?

Danny, why cant you be factual instead of insults? Minimum minning Taxes are coporation tax 25%or35%, participation interest 10% and Royalties 10%. Total= 45%or55%. Ghana earns over $3 billion every year from Gold minning.

Waa look. He is probably in the pay of these mining companies who continue to polute and poison our rivers and streams with cyanide and other toxic materials. These mega rich mining companies ( who until recently only paid derisory tax on their profits) continue to flout the health and safety laws of our country with impunity and seek to divert attention from their own harmful activities by highlighting the much much smaller scale activities of "Galamaseys" .Yes Galamsey is harmful but the harm caused by the negligent activities of mining companies is far far ,more serious in terms of scale.

Listen to this man raising a weightless agument like; “How can renowned companies like Ashanti Gold or Newmont flout mining regulations to tarnish their hard-won international image?” Go to New Abirem in the E/R and see how the people are demonstrating cos of dust pollution at the environs. I wonder if the so-called EPA,Water Commision and the other bodies this man mentioned even care about the communities in which this companies operate. You sit in your A/C Office &cars, collect huge money from the companies, send ur children abroad and write any nonsense..look at the road from Nkawkaw to Abirem where Newmont operate, look at the dust pollution wen they blast.. they claim they dont have water for dust supresion yet they are mining, where is EPA? Let me tell u, the companies are doing anything they like in Ghana bcos we have leaders like you. God have mercy on Ghana mpanimfo) like u Dr. Aubynn

The Environmental&Social responsibility must be increased to 20% to mitigate the negative impact and the destruction [I mean both the minning companies and the Government]

Can we get a comment from Dr. Tony about the mining company that exported 'gold' to Iran through Turkey?
This is an important national and international matter. It deserves a comment from the CEO of the Chamber.
