Well, things are unraveling for them. Using GETFUND for those scholarships, given out to overwhelmingly people of northern Ghana extraction, in the first place was bad.

Well, things are unraveling for them. Using GETFUND for those scholarships, given out to overwhelmingly people of northern Ghana extraction, in the first place was bad.

When I first heard of that, I couldn't believe it. Not until I spoke with one of the beneficiaries did everything become clear.

My conclusion was that it was wanton dissipation of GETFUND funds. No scholarship should be given by any public institution for anyone to do a first degree abroad ever again! And in fields like Gender Studies too! Gosh!

I think I should complete the piece I started on the issue but stopped when others like Sarpong hijacked the news of the students in Cuba as part of their own elections campaign against the NDC.

U of Ghana can surely develop to their level but there's a lot of work to do to get there. Until then, I don't see anything wrong with scholarships; provided that these students return to Ghana after getting their degree.

First, are these students’ legitimate earners of the scholarship they are enjoying in the UK?
Secondly, are the various programs they are studying not available in the Universities in Ghana?
Third, if they indeed qualified on merit to benefit from the scholarship, which of the authority then is frustrating them?
Something is not right at the Secretariat and the GETFUND outfit.
I have seen several Ghanaian students use this scholarship ploy to get to the States and elsewhere just to abandon their studies and begin living a hustle life.
Yes, it is about time an independent investigation and audit is slapped on the above two outfits, for they are either wasting the country's money or subjecting some innocent students to a disastrous and miserable life abroad.

That is why I believe Wayome's case will be a waste of time to persue and NPP's petition will end up in a legal limbo. The weakest wing of the Ghanaian government is the Attorney Generals Office. It serves the master not the public : it sits on sidelines of justice instead of executing to protect the state. It is as useless as the Ministry responsible for Electricity supplies.

Hannah Tetteh come to our aid as we can no longer bear pressure from authorities concerned and this has really affected studies because you don't even have the peace of mind to concentrate on whatever program for which you went to study rather all thoughts are focused on the bearing when is my allowance going to be paid for me to settle my bills before thinking of what to even eat. Please Hon. Hannah Tetteh help us as we borrow phones to call the office of GETFund to find out whether our accounts have been credited and the polite answer is lets wait till next week, but next week has always been in the future since i left the shores of my LOVELY COUNTRY GHANA.
