Preliminary investigations into the fire that razed portions of chemical and paint manufacturing firm, BBC industries, point to what the Ghana National Fire Service is describing as “simultaneous ignition”.
The inferno which started around 6:30 pm Saturday, took personnel from the Fire Service drawn from Tema and Accra close to 10 hours, to bring the situation under control at the industrial area at Tema. It is unclear what caused the fire that started at about 6:45pm.
Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Prince Anaglate told Joy News they are still working hard to completely put off the fire. Mr. Anaglatey says the fire, which is a hydrocarbon fire has however been brought under control.
“We are going to ensure that we douse the whole premises with water and reduce the temperature below the blue sheet of any combustible material within the premises,” he said.
