High-powered delegations from around the world are arriving

High-powered delegations from around the world are arriving in the country to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect John Dramani Mahama

, scheduled to take place tomorrow.

Most of the delegations, led by various dignitaries ranging from heads of state to Chargerd’affaires, and some advance teams arrived at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday.

The Presidents include African Union Chairman and President of Benin, Mr Yayi Boni, President Teodora Nbiang Nguema Mbasogo, Equatorial Guinea and President Mohamed Abdelaziz, of the Sahrawi Republic. Prime Minister Hage Geingob of Namibia and Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka have also arrived with their delegations.

Other dignitaries include a United States delegation led by the chief executive of the millennium challenge Compact, Mr Daniel W. Yohannes, the Speaker of the Pan African Parliament, a Chinese delegation by led by its Minister of Water Resources, Ethiopian delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tanzanian delegation led by a Minister of State, Guinean delegation led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and an Angolan delegation led by its Minister for External Affairs.

Other delegations that have arrived ahead of tomorrow’s ceremony include those from Algeria, Finland, Ireland, Indonesia and Iran. Sierra-Leone and Nigeria have advance teams led by the Defense Minister and Governor of Akwa Ibon State respectively.

Presidents Jacob Zuma of South Africa and Macky Sall of Senegal as well as other Heads of State and dignitaries are expected to arrive in the country tomorrow morning for the ceremony.
