  The Ayew brothers are talented and can help the Blackstars a lot but they need to change their attitude or the Blackstars will be better off without them. They cannot dictate to any Coach when they want to report, who to select and whatnot. Coach Kwesi Appiah should stick to his guns and let discipline and unity be his guiding principle in molding a Blackstar team. Insurbordination even by the best Player in the world should not be tolerated. Best wishes Coach Appiah. The same indiscipline during Abedi Pele's captaincy denied the Blackstar the trophy and this kind of insurbordination should not be tolerated.

  But why sense danger though? Don't you think we have enough players to replace any other player is that 26 man list. We do and therefore there is no fears. We just need a competent coach to lead that is all. To me, if MRAA could plan well, this year, 2013, would be one of the best years for Ghana in this sport. The concern I have is the fact that he is going into the tournament with less than three strikers. It is something I never seen in any of the clubs or the national teams before. Without danger, it will be difficult for one to win. Danger is part of the game.
  
  At the moment, he could call Emmanuel Frimpong to join them so that Kwedwo Asamoah would take the Play Maker poisition, for Frimpong is back in Arsenal. This means he has fully gained his fitness. All the same, the coach could use flexibility in his decision takings to come out well in this tournament and in future.

The discussions veered and later centered on modern trend of football. I was amazed by one of the analyses which put the current Barcelona team on the spot line...This is a team full of talented midfielders who can score at will.. So I was told if a team find your midfield tough to break you can easily win your game so? ...if you run short of out and out strikers like the Opoku Afriyies, Peter Lampteys( he was at the park but did not play but showed the guys so game play with sketches on the ground). The modern game makes room for mid-fielders to do the do for you!!!!

  MC, you are right on that. I sensed this midfield domination game plan after the European cup of nations which Spain practically used midfielders to win that tournament. I even gave a comment after that final match and had the confidence that we could replicate such a game plan since all we have are midfielders. However, to see us taking only 3 strikers to such a tough tournament, which even fifa stated as a physically drained among all the tournaments, scared me. Even now, I'm still thinking about it because it is hardly practiced.

  Although, the bar the Coach Appiah set, is hunting him, I will say, he is leading. He was a follower just days ago. He is now doing exactly what he said he was going to do. I was worrying for a moment when GFA asked the player to come for further examination; even though, the coach's vision, according to him, is to take only fit players for the Africa Cup of Nations. Therefore, further examination of any player means that player isn't fit to begin with. By the coach's aim of taking only fit players and has left Yahaya and Muntari without given them the same opportunity to get healed in camp, asking Andrea to come for a double check, wasn't a healthy idea.
  
  This situation reminds me of AFCON 2006 when both Essien and Muntari couldn't make it to camp on time due to injury and Stephen Appiah too wasn't fully fit. The result was bad; if the coach is tactically competent, we should, on the contrary, come out with flying colors why because in the 2006 squad, our best players were those three players. However, in this squad, our best players are still in the team with exception of only Dede. In a way, if the coach could select the right players for the coming tournament, the team will be strong in disguise. By the time our opponents would realize, we would be in the finals.
  
  Therefore, let us focus on what we have at hand and move forward.

I know of the bickering that was on-going and the discord long sown when Jordan was dropped from the squad by various writers and callers to phone-in programmes. It is my prayer that this will not breed bad blood but unfortunately that is what we are witnessing...Why would the French Club he played for released him to the National Team but he chose to report to camp 4 or 5 days clear when the list would have been submitted to CAF? Do proper analysis and you will appreciate what is happening...I have always supported the Ayews right from Abedi when he was a Middle School chap before he went to Sec Sch in Tamale and all his brother Sola, Kwame Ayew but I can't condom such pettiness you mention of...come again!!!

  Do you know how many players are willing to die for the country? It is uncountable because even a young boy kicking a plastic bag around wants to play for the Black Stars. Therefore, if the player is faking, which I doubt it, and on top of it refused to report at camp at the required date and time why ask for his inclusion? Already, the coach had made a statement to the public that he is not going to take any unfit player to camp. So why asked for further treatment to be given to the player when the player and his club reported he is not fit to play?
  
  Initially, MRAA should have taken his decision based on his vision as if you are not fit to play for the country then sit home. As a coach, you carry that forward and when the player is ready to play, you sit him down and talk to him. After that, you make him aware of his actions and the consequences that comes with such an action. You order him to sit without inviting him. Next time, he will learn and will never do that anymore.
  
  We chased Balotelli all over Europe, and so was the same did to Kevin Prince Boateng. Isn't it time to stop chasing players but allow the players to chase the country instead?
  
  Like I said, we are moving forward. MRAA is gradually coming out of his shell. Good for him. Actions like this though comes with those competent in the job. Hopefully he has the brains to back his actions up.

  Your opening and concluding passages,i.e 'like I said, MRAA is gradually coming out of his shell', atopped with the booster "Good for him" pre-suggest that, you have little or no faith in him.
  
  In this connection, you have given me all the room to think that, a coach who is slow in coming out with bold decisions,one whose brains are improperly situated could not 'back up' his actions and as such, has no business dealing with our precious gem, the GBS. abi?
  
  MRAA is synonymous with football. To wit, he has been around that leather ball since infancy. At his current adult premises, thereisnogain saying he would thrive in the business.
  
  He has already made it. In the annals of the GFA books, as well as CAF and the almighty FIFA blue books, MRAA is a national coach. That alone requires of us to give him the due respect as one of the statesmen of our time.
  
  When he says something, something happens. He is adequately compensated in the African sense of of cashmoney for the toils of his labour.
  
  All that aside, the MRAA venture is under meticulous scrutiny. Why? Cuz, he is the first local coach to enjoy the 'Benjamins' more than his own country's president would.
  On top of it, most of us believes the position of a national coach is most reservedly tabled for expatriates only. And that, chances are, the players might not apportion the necessary respect due him, a situation that might create confusion
  and apathy in camp.
  
  That said, it is also a belief of many that, MRAA could be ending his tenure 'what if and if not" (much apology to editor Rans Peprah) the AFCON becomes a fiasco.
  But rightly said and done, the position of our nation coach is now the prerogative of the walatulization regimen. If for any reason, the MRAA Law is rebuked or rejected, the mantle will still fall on our very own
  kind within the widely acclaimed/embraced walatu-walasa programme.
  
  But for 'tofeakwa' reasons, OOPS! for cohesion and familiarity reasons, quote and quote, "for football reasons" only, if Ghana should clamour for better results, we must have to retain MRAA through Brazil before we think otherwise.
  
  The Unshakeable Shaker would have no choice other than to back down and accept the simple philosophy that, "No one sets out to fail".
  All that is well, that ends well.

When the coach does something good, I praise him. Like what he just did by standing by his word on this Dede's case. I thought the players were going to walk over him; however, he is showing the toughness in him. So I praise him for the. If he goes against his word, I will point it out.   Let us, as a nation and people, some times face facts. Discipline is the trade-make of any achievement in this world and in life and without it, one is bound to fail.
  
  Ask self why the Black Stars, our team, hasn't been able to make breakthrough in our guest in conquering Africa when it comes to soccer?
  
  This is because of indiscipline on the part of some players who are considered to be untouchable! Mind you, we are all Ghanaians and I think, what is good for the goose, is equally good for the gender and let us stop the blame game all the time because of a like for a player!
  
  I know coach Appiah personally as my former church member before he enplaned to the United Kingdom for his 4yr degree in football administration. He is the nicest guy you would ever want to meet.
  
  He never would have taken this very action without ascertaining that it was going to be good and fair for both the playing body and obviously CAF, the body in charge of African football.
  
  And do you know he could have faced discipline if he disobeyed CAF''s deadline which was the day he (Dede) wanted to do it on his own, thus, reporting? What type of arrogance, indiscipline and disrespect is this?
  
  His father, my long time idol, would have possibly done same to any player if need be thus, if he was the current coach. We are suffering as a nation and people now because of our inability as a people to do and think what is right, licking discipline in our decision-making!

  Jordan has been invited to Blakstars on many occassions by Coach Appiah and has not justified his inclusion. He has scored 4 goals in 17 matches for his French team and you people are making it look like he has set the league on fire. He is not even scored more goals than his brother in the same team who has scored five goals as a midfielder playing the same number of games. The Coach is right in not selecting Jordan.

  We need players who are hungry for success. I think we have a culture of complacency and we need a coach who is bold enough to shake the team up, even if one of the big names must be axed. Even if we do not get this cup, we might find some new big guns out of this group. We need to see what Adomah and Atsu can do in a tournament. To be honest, I think it is more important to develop a strong team that can qualify for the WC. It will be great to win this AFCON but realistically, Ivory Coast is likely to take this. We will get out of the group stages but what happens after that is unpredictable. We have a chance to win but the key is really to have a strong and confident squad that is ready to fight for Ghana.

  First of all dedication has no value, if talent and experience are not there. Dedication whereby the individueen is convinced by the activities of certain society.
  
  No human will spend its resources for something without profitation eather material or immaterial.
  
  If we want to generate dedicated players who will win cups for Ghana, we must refuse taking bribes from the players and concentrate our selfs on talent management. This will bring the boy patriotism and resulted to dedication. The act of our leaders is not supporting this yet!
  
  Conclusion: We will be glad to see Ghana winning more cups but we haven´t set up the right leaders to join this wonderful black stars yet. Let us hope for the future!

  It takes a team and a good leader to win games not individuals. If a star studied player will not commit to play for your team and you force him into the team. It will be like taking the horse to a river bank. You cant force it to drink the water. It takes commitment, desire and courage for a team to gel. A determined, resourceful leader will respect whatever resources available, mobilize it, motivate it and build a formidable team to win trophies. Do not allow anyone to intimidate you, because you re one of us; BLACKMAN.
  Take a stand be bold, assume responsibility and God will be with you.
  Remember that, Zambia won the cup with an unknown team and we can do then same. Let no one hold Ghana Blackstar hostage. Before these young players, there was Blackstar and there will always be Blackstar after they re long gone.

He was made to apologise publicly and his brother has been dropped so must be aggrieved. If he is truly injured, he should be OK in 3-4 weeks. At least having him for the knockout stages is better than leaving him out completely.

  These Ghanaian footballers; when they are natured up to a stage where they become so called stars, they end up wanting to dictate terms. Dede Ayew is not a team player. He isolates himself from his team mates and his delaying tactics is just one of his character traits. He is obviously been difficult because his younger brother wasn't selected. AA must work with those who are prepared to honour the nation. There is always a star in the making.

  For good will sake Ayew should have made as much effort to be part of the AFCON. That would have sent a positive signal. Even if he were truly injured should have been there and allow the doctors to examine him.

When you talk of indiscipline, players like Cantona, Romario, Maradonna and the rest should be left out always, but the are worth it and i think Andrey is worth it too. This is the BS and they will carry the flag of Ghana to win this tournament. I am sure team will think, theres no muntari, essien, ayew so Ghana are weak, but we have players like Atsu, Wakaso, Asamoah, Badu etc who can do us proud!!   For all you know, AA did not even inform him of his decision to exclude him because of his inability to report to camp on Monday before the release of the statement. AA's management style is pathetic and that would be his undoing. Mark my words.

  I really respect him for playing with his shoulder injury during the last AFCON and Ghanaians were drawn to him for his dedicated service to the nation but he should not get upset because his brother was not selected to the team. Nobody should be allowed to hold Blackstar to ransom.

  I just cannot believe the comments on this site. This is the reason why we lack dedication from our own. We keep counting on the white man to help us while we ignore those endowed with abilities among us. Why do we always want to put our stupid cocoase reasons behind every event that happens? Why can't we just trust that;
  1. Ayew was injured
  2. Kwasi Appiah made the best decision available.
  Why do we have to always link things to backward thinking?
  If I am a player and I know I am injured, why should I waste the tax payers money to dubhai just to be confirmed you cannot play even though I already know I cannot? Don't forget that these players use the tournament to market themselves as well. It is just good to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes. Ghana will remain like this if we keep this behaviour up. We are only know what people mean to us until they are no more. Everybody sings Nkrumh's praise becos he is no more. Give Kwasi Appiah and Ayew the benefit of the doubt that they are both telling the truth and doing the right thing. It is you who will complain if Ayew goes to that tournament pretending he is fit and did not deliver.

  Andre, his senior brother did obey the order, why couldn't Dede? Ask self why the Black Stars, our team, hasn't been able to make breakthrough in our guest in conquering Africa when it comes to soccer?
  
  This is because of indiscipline on the part of some players who are considered to be untouchable! Mind you, we are all Ghanaians and I think, what is good for the goose, is equally good for the gender and let us stop the blame game all the time because of a like for a player!
  
  I know coach Appiah personally as my former church member before he enplaned to the United Kingdom for his 4yr degree in football administration. He is the nicest guy you would ever want to meet.
  
  He never would have taken this very action without ascertaining that it was going to be good and fair for both the playing body and obviously CAF, the body in charge of African football.
  
  And do you know he could have faced discipline if he disobeyed CAF''s deadline which was the day he (Dede) wanted to do it on his own, thus, reporting? What type of arrogance, indiscipline and disrespect is this?
  
  His father, my long time idol, would have possibly done same to any player if need be thus, if he was the current coach. We are suffering as a nation and people now because of our inability as a people to do and think what is right, thus, lacking discipline in our decision-making!
  
  Thanks coach James, for starting and initiating this disciplinary trait! A very good example as a good coach of the Black Stars. Kudos!

  Andrew is a great player the trainer would have considered flying along with,even more than his luggage.But if he is behaving in a manner which he considers to be an apparent support for his brother who had been dropped and may still have some ill-feelings,then the coach is right to take that action.We need people who are ready to fight,something Ghana doesn't lack at all.Remember WC 2006;whoever thought that DRAMANI and ILLIASU would perform so excellently.Akwasi,we are behind you in only the good things that you do.

  Ghanaians who disagree with this decision really have short memory. Just about only a year now, Black Stars was bitten to the surprise of the whole world by common Zambia. Not only once, but twice, front and back. If you haven't realized till now that Zambia's discipline was the determining factor that gave them the advantage, then you are not a good observant. Back Stars need that kind of discipline to break the status quo. And did I say that Zambian team was mostly local players against mostly (if not all) foreign based Black Stars? Coach Appiah, thumps (and toes) up!!!! Whoever cannot follow the rules MUST be out. Even if you are left with only 11 players, no reserve, and the 11 well determined and committed, you would go further than working with uncommitted famous names. As a matter of fact, name does not play football.
  If you look at the whole scene from another angle, one can conclude that Andre has an incentive for shunting AFCON 2013 because Appiah did not include Jordan in the selection. That might be a big inducement for Andre to manifest indirectly his desolation. I am not saying I know for sure, I am just speculating by inference, and this logic is highly plausible.
  
  Once again, Appiah has taken the correct decision. No favoritism if we want to go farther.
