Nana Addo's violent conduct has vindicated NDC

A member of the ruling National Democratic Congress' (NDC) communication team says Nana Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is gradually carving niche for himself as the most violent politician in Ghana’s history.

Felix Kwakye-Ofosu maintained that Mr. Akufo-Addo's refusal to concede defeat after losing gracefully to President John Mahama in the just ended general elections, vindicates the NDC’s position of his [Nana] violent persona.

He was reacting to the NPP’s resolve to seek legal redress over the alleged rigging of the elections in which the Electoral Commission (EC)pronounced the President as winner.

The opposition party claims that results from the collation centres were inflated while that of their presidential candidate were reduced to favour the incumbent government.

Also, aggrieved supporters of the NPP had massed up on the streets protesting the results their leaders claimed was rigged and had vowed to stay on the streets until their presidential candidate was pronounced winner.

However, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu said the NPP supporters were putting into practice the infamous All die be die mantra espoused by their presidential candidate prior to the elections.

According to him, the aggrieved party members would not be on the streets if their leadership had not incited them and had boldly told them the truth about the outcome of last Friday’s polls.

“It is bad to wage a poor campaign and lose but it is worse to lie to your own supporter. I don’t blame NPP supporters; it is the leadership I blame because they did not tell them the truth”.

The NDC youth activist said the action and inaction of Nana Addo had proven beyond reasonable doubt that “he poses the biggest threat to the country's security".

He said the NPP will pay a hefty price for the violent conduct of its supporters for many years.

Kwakye-Ofosu maintained the NPP claim of vote rigging “is an absolute falsehood and the biggest fraud being perpetrated on Ghanaians”.

“I think Nana Addo’s political career is over. I make a prediction that there is no way Ghanaians will vote him after this violent conduct. He has the worst record in Ghana's history as the only presidential candidate who has rejected election results on the basis of falsehood” he added.

Kwakye-Ofosu assured all Ghanaians of maximum security under the Mahama-led government.
