NDC’s Last Gargantuan ‘Kokofu’ Promotions Out

The NDC government headed by John Mahama has released the first batch of its gargantuan ‘kokofu’ promotions for the Ghana Armed Forces.

In continuation of the selective ‘kokofu promotions’ started by the late President John Mills in May 2009 and maintained until July 2012 following the ‘the first coup d’état’, John Mahama has preserved and enhanced the tradition.
In a Military Secretary Publication dated 26th November 2012, about twenty five (25) Army officers and three (3) Navy officers have been promoted from Major to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and equivalent. As usual, majority of the officers are from the NDC ‘World Bank’ in the East and the three Northern Regions.

The worst thing that has happened in the latest publication is the injustice meted out to one Major RK Akoto (GH/2790) of the Headquarters of the Support Service Brigade Group. The officer whose appointment is Camp Commandant was among the twenty-five (25) Army officers originally promoted on 26th November 2012 by the Military Secretary’s Publication signed by Brigadier General SM Adams. Major RK Akoto’s name appeared at serial 32 of the said publication and was therefore elated by the good news.
However, by the twist of ethnocentric and politically motivated directives, the poor officer has been denied his due. The Army Commander, Major General JN Adinkrah, is alleged to have personally called the Military Secretary, Brigadier General SM Adams, to delete the name of Major RK Akoto from the list that had already been published. The Military Secretary had no option than to send a message to “Cancel All References” with respect to serial 32 of GHQ/18023/MS dated 26 November 2012.

What a wicked and unsympathetic act by the bootlicker, “a certain Ray”!!! How could a General be so wicked to humiliate a very junior of the stature of Major RK Akoto? The only sin of Major Akoto is that he is an Akan and suspected to be a sympathizer of the NPP.

Major RK Akoto had all his previous promotions (Major and Captain) on 23rd August 2005 and 23rd 2000 as the other twenty-four (24) Army officers. Is it not strange that Major RK Akoto would be singled out for such a disgrace and mortification? The argument that he was originally commissioned as a Short Service Officer does not hold water as the officer has qualified and converted from Short Service to Regular Commission.

Is it not absurd that several other officers also with Short Service Commission but from the ‘World Bank’ on the same MS Publication of November 26 2012 have been promoted from Major to Lieutenant Colonel? General Ray Adinkrah, you are doing the dirty work for your ‘in-laws’ while projecting your cronies, political and ethnic friends. Onyame a hu woo o………
If the promotions from Major to Lieutenant Colonel are worrying, then those of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel and Colonel to Brigadier General and equivalent are “killing and disgusting”. Those to be promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel are;
Lieutenant Colonel JK Akou-Adjei (GH/2279)-Volta Region, Lieutenant Colonel RY Affram (GH/2273)-Volta Region, Lieutenant Colonel M Abdulai (GH/2275)-Northern Region, Wg Cdr Fianya (GH/2374)-Volta Region, Lieutenant Colonel R Adwini (GH/2389)-BAR and Alter Ego of General JN Adinkrah (NB: Seconded to UNAMID’s Jt Sp x Coord Mech (JSCM) AU/UN Office in Adis Ababa as SO Liaison), Lieutenant Colonel A Amadu-Mahama (GH/2390)-Northern Region, Lieutenant Colonel M Tahiru (GH/2392)-Northern Region, Wg Cdr RR Ayisa (GH/2465)-Eastern Region (Ga Adangbe), Cdr IA Yakubu (GH/2487)-Northern Region, Lieutenant Colonel C Adukpo (GH/2351)-Volta Region, Lieutenant Colonel JHK Buntuguh (GH/2453)-Upper East Region, Lieutenant Colonel WA Seidu (GH/2330)-Northern Region, *Lieutenant Colonel LL Attachie (GH/2402)-Volta Region and Wg Cdr AM Mensah (GH/2942)-Volta Region
The mother of all ‘kokofu’ promotions and appointments is to be found in the promotions from Colonel to Brigadier General and equivalents. The promotions in this category are purely politically and ethnocentrically motivated. Those on the promotion list are either NDC members/sympathizers or from the ‘world banks’ of NDC or tribes/clans-men of the President, National Security Coordinator, the Military High Command, the Minister of Defence or criminally minded fraternity of greedy bastards and evil dwarfs of old and new species.
Merit, professionalism, skills, competence, seniority in service and rank were not the major criteria thereby denying very hardworking but ‘politically unreliable’ senior officers as far as the NDC is concerned.
The NDC favorites enjoying the kokofu promotions are the following;
Colonel MI Tetteh (GH/1919)- ER, Krobo (care of COAS), Colonel WA Ayamdo (GH/1954)-UER (care of President), Colonel GA Biah (GH/1961)-UER (care of CDS, President), Colonel I Mahama (GH/2136)-NR (care of President), Colonel CK Agbeka (GH/2282)-VR, Colonel CK Debrah (GH/1905)-VR, Colonel M Whajah (GH/2042)-WR (care of CDS, Min Defence), Colonel EL Lawson (GH/2081)-VR (care of President, Min Def), Naval Captain SVA Coomson- CR (care of VP, CNS, Min Def), Naval Captain PK Faidoo-CR (care of Rear Adm Kwapong, Min Def, CNS), Naval Captain MRN Yawson-CR (care of Min Def,CDS, CNS, NDC National Headquarters), Naval Captain S Amoama-CR (care of CDS, CNS), Naval Captain Osei Kuffuor-Ash-( care of CDS, COS and NDC National Headquarters), Group Captain GS Evans-GAR (care of President, NDC Headquarters, CAS), Group Captain NFK Dzokoto-VR (care of COS,CAS, President’s Office) and Group Captain JMY Nyadodui-VR (care of COS, CAS, President’s office).
Conspicuously missing from this list on political and ethnic grounds is Colonel AK Appiah-Agyapong –mate of Colonel MI Tetteh and senior to Colonels WA Ayamdo, GA Biah, CK Agbeka, Musah Whajah, CK Debrah, EL Lawson and Group Captains GS Evans, NFK Dzokoto and JMY Nyadodui.
The only sins of Colonel AK Appiah-Agyapong are that he is an Ashanti and therefore is suspected to be a sympathizer of the NPP. He was denied War College privilege in favour of Colonels MI Tetteh and WA Ayamdo and even Advanced Military studies in China. He has currently been pushed to military Siberia in Sudan to perish. By the Grace of God, Colonel Appiah-Agyapong will live to tell his story.
General Adinkrah and Blay should know that no condition is permanent and very soon they would be retired from the Ghana Armed Forces. The evil that men do will always live after them.
