Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council hosts award winning farmers

The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) on Wednesday hosted 83 national award winners of the 28th National Farmers Day celebration to a cocktail at the Regional Minister’s residence.

The Day would be held at Abokobi in the Greater Accra Region on November 2. Addressing the award winners, Mr. Nii Afotey Agbo announced that government was considering providing diplomatic passports for the first three overall best farmers to travel to Britain, America and Germany to interact with farmers there.

He said the idea was to enable the farmers to learn modern farming practices from their counterparts in those countries and come to implement them to help improve agricultural production.

Mr. Agbo reminded the farmers of the upcoming general election in Ghana and urged them to reflect on what they could collectively do to ensure peaceful election and enhance Ghana’s democracy.

He entreated them to use their position to bear on the leadership of political parties conduct their electioneering campaigns with decorum and devoid of acrimony.

The regional minister also appealed to the award winners to continue to share their knowledge and experience with other farmers in their communities to help increase food production.

He recommended that the farmers to take time off and visit the grave of President John Atta Mills and pay their respects to him.
