Immigration service to deport sex tourists

The Ghana Immigration Service says it won’t hesitate to deport foreigners who visit the country with the intention of engaging in sex tourism.

Tourism Minister Akua Sena Danso said the practice is endemic in the Ashanti, Eastern, Central and Northern regions.

She told Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee that her outfit is strengthening collaboration with the security services to clamp down on sex tourists.

Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service, Francis Palmdeti in an interview with XYZ News said the embassies are also supporting the campaign to weed out sex tourists.

“We under no circumstance would admit any individual suspected to be engaging in any kind of act as I have just described into this country.

“We have also sensitized the consular agencies of the various missions to be mindful of such elements who are notorious in their countries as persons who engage in such immoral activities from coming into this country” Mr. Palmdeti said.**
