Mpiani: NPP officials justified not to appear before EOCO

A former Chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration, Kojo Mpiani says members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who refused to submit themselves before the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) during the investigations were justified.

Mr. Mpiani has accused EOCO of pre-judging the case before it began investigations into the matter.

In an interview with Citi News, he said members of his party will subject themselves to any public enquiry apart from that of EOCO.

He said Ghanaians are angry with the NDC government due to the exposé from the EOCO report, adding that the NDC must deal with the report rather than deliberately trying to implicate ex-government officials in the Kufuor administration.

“I am not a lawyer but my common sense tells me that EOCO realised that what has happened is wrong, it affects the present government and Ghanaians are angry with the present government,” Mpiani said.

Mpiani has also recommended a thorough investigation in the payment of some GhC400,000 to the wife of the Chief State Attorney, Nerquaye-Tetteh, as stated in the EOCO report that was submitted to President Mills on Thursday.

“Who paid her that amount and for what work… as a nation we have problem, we look at everything on partisan basis. Something has happened with this government, we must be bold to call a spade a spade,” he added.
