Over 30 Ghanaian engineers are being trained by the Bui Power Authority ahead of the operation and maintenance of the Bui Power Project.
The nine-month training programme is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. According to the authority, the training would equip participants with requisite knowledge and skills to operate and maintain the plant.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Jabez Amissah-Arthur told Citi News the authority has decided to tap into the skills of Ghanaians in hydro plant operations to reduce the over reliance on expatriate support.
“So they [engineers] will be here at VRA in Akosombo and Akuse for nine months during which they will go through training both in the classroom and in the field in preparation for the plant once the construction is finished,” he said.
